Websites and e-services
If you need to get in touch with an authority, visiting the authority’s website is a good way to start. The web address is usually the name of the authority followed by .se, i.e. www.skatteverket.se, www.csn.se and www.liu.se. Many sites are available in easy Swedish and in several foreign languages.
On the web you will most likely find information about the authority and details on how to get in touch with different departments. Many sites have e-services available enabling the visitor to carry out errands online. For certain e-services, you need an e-ID / BankID (e-legitimation). It is a way to legitimize yourself on the Internet for important matters to ensure that you are in fact the person you claim to be.
Learn more about e-authentication / BankID on the website www.e-legitimation.se. The site is unfortunately only available in Swedish. If you need help obtaining ad e-Id/BankID you can also contact your bank.
Call or visit an authority
When calling an authority your call is usually connected to a switchboard or a telephone system where you have to specify what your call is for. When you have stated your reason your call will be forwarded to someone who can help you. Sometimes you will be placed in a queue, waiting for someone to be able to take you your call. An automated voice will usually tell you your place in the queue.
If you want to visit an authority you can find the visiting hours and the address online. The authorities are usually open during working hours 8 to 16. Many authorities use a queue system so remember to take a queue ticket if they are in use.
