Linköping’s culture school

Maybe you would like to play in an orchestra, sing in a choir or perhaps you would like to learn how to play an instrument. Whatever you request, Linköping’s culture school is likely to be able to cater to your needs. The school, formerly known as Linköping’s school of music, has broadened its services and now offers education within theatre, image and form and dance.

 

The outdoor museum - Old Linköping

Old Linköping is situated next to Valla forest and Valla recreational area and together they form a lovely surrounding with plenty to do for the whole family.

Old Linköping

was constructed in the 1950ies. Instead of tearing down old buildings in the city they were dismantled and moved to old Linköping, creating a wonderful outdoor museum, reminiscing of was once was. There are several museums in the area, the school museum and the chocolate museum being the most popular ones among children. Because even when off from school, children enjoy dressing up in old fashion clothes to experience what schools were like in the early 1900´s. At the chocolate museum you can learn all about the two Swiss brothers who founded Cloetta, the famous sweet company.

Valla forest

If you would like to reach Vallas recreational area, just take a stroll through the Valla forest. If you prefer to let your feet rest, take the cho cho train and you will be there in now time.  

Valla recreational area

Valla recreational area has stables and besides horses you can also see goats, rabbits and other small animals. Valla’s pony club organizes riding classes and horse shows.There is a lovely, large playground in the area called Lill-Valla (Little Valla) and if you get tired of playing there, there is always the miniature golf course. For those, eager to learn there is a railway museum, a farming museum, a technical history museum, and a wagon museum. And if you forget to bring something to eat, don’t worry. There is a kiosk and a restaurant close by.

 

Busfabriken 

On a rainy, when you would rather stay indoors than outdoors, Busfabriken (Trick factory) is an excellent place to visit. Busfabriken offers hours of fun for children and teenagers with trampolines, climbing frames, giant slides, airhockey, balls, tubes and passage ways. 

 

The air force museum

The word, museum usually makes you think of activities for grown ups. However, the air force museum has something for all ages. Especially for children eager to learn new things. How about making your own space rocket with an empty bottle, some cardboard, water and bicycle pump? If you do it well you might me able to make your rocket fly 25 metres!  And when you have finished building your rocket you can build helicopters and airplanes using Lego in the mechanical work shop.

 

Fenomenmagasinet

The phenomenon centre guarantees hours of fun both for children and grown ups with three floors packed with exciting science and technical experiments. Using all senses the museum explains how things work letting the visitor take an active part in it all.  

 

Hangaren Hot Sport Center

If you feel like trying inline skating, skateboarding or BMX why not visit Hangaren Hot Sport Centre in Ryd? And if that isn’t enough, there’s always the14 metre high wall to climb!

 

Fun Skate Park

There was once a mother with three teenage sons who loved to skate board. Yes, that’s how the true story about Fun Skate Park actually started. Today the 1451 square metre park is the biggest out door concrete skate park in Sweden. Just bring your skate board and come and try the bumps, stairs, banks, gaps, rails and ledges the park has to offer. And if you don’t have your own board - don't worry!  You can borrow one from the youth centre close by.
