Improving accessibility in all areas of the community for people with functional impairment is a given priority. Therefore Linköping has composed a disability policy action programme.
The City of Linköping disability policy action programme, adopted on 9 December 2008, is a revision of the previous action programme.
The programme will:
- stimulate interest in matters concerning functional impediments and contribute to a high level of ambition
- be a tool in achieving a holistic view and a common attitude in matters that concern people with functional impairment
- contribute to the current budget preparation and activity planning work of committees, boards and departments
- be a support in an information and education context
- express a declaration of intent as to what attitude the City’s elected representatives and members of staff should take in matters that concern people with functional impairment.
The programme aims to give personal prospects of greater independence and better quality of life for people with functional impairment, based on the principles of personal integrity and influence, equal opportunities for women and men, accessibility, participation, a holistic view and democracy.
